Benefits of using dried ginger root

Ginger is a marvellous herb, with many proven benefits. When digested, it naturally warms the body, stimulates circulation & energy. Historically it has been considered an aphrodisiac, for its ability to enhance sexual vitality. These days it is favoured for its ability to help relieve nausea and is a key ingredient for many cold and flu remedies.

The health benefits of ginger are mainly attributed to its phenolic compounds, such as gingerols & shogaols. When ginger is fresh, gingerol is more potent. When it is dried, the shogaol content often becomes more abundant.

Nausea, Motion & Morning Sickness
Perhaps ginger’s most common use is for its ability to relieve nausea & vomiting. These effects are attributed to its ability to relax the body, keeping your digestive function stable & blood pressure consistent. When consumed it also helps warm, and calm the stomach, improving digestion and relieving tension.

Menstrual Cramps
Ginger has also been proven to be useful in alleviating cramps & pain associated with menstrual cycles. It’s believed to be because of gingers’ warming & anti-spasmodic effects.

Fevers, Cold & Flus
Ginger root has been used traditionally for the treatment of colds & flu, especially if there is a fever present. Ginger is a renowned diaphoretic & great at warming the body. By stimulating circulation, & sweating, ginger helps heat leave the body which may help break fevers.
