Raspberry leaf is a classic women’s herb known for its gentle support of reproductive health, digestion, and general tone. Traditionally used during late pregnancy, for menstrual comfort, and as a nourishing tea, it’s rich in minerals and tannins with a mildly earthy, pleasant flavour.
- Traditionally used to support menstruation, pregnancy, and postpartum recovery
- Tones uterine muscle and may ease cramping or heavy flow
- Rich in calcium, magnesium, and other nutrients for general nourishment
- Used for diarrhea, sore throats, and oral health due to its gentle astringency
- Popular with herbalists, doulas, and those seeking a caffeine-free daily tea
Tea: Steep 1–2 tsp per cup of hot water for 10–15 minutes. Drink 1–3 cups daily. Can also be steeped stronger and chilled as an iced tea.
Blends: Combine with nettle, chamomile, peppermint, or rose for reproductive or digestive support.
Prenatal routine: Often taken from second trimester onward, or after birth for uterine recovery.
Gargle or wash: Brew a strong tea for sore throat, oral care, or as a wound wash.
Animal use: Used in small amounts for rabbits, horses, and other herbivores to support reproduction or digestion.
Nourishing infusion: Steep 15–30 g of dried leaf in 1L of boiling water for 4–8 hours or overnight. Strain and sip throughout the day. Learn more about this method in our Nourishing Herbal Infusions guide.
Raspberry leaf is best known for its use in pregnancy, but it’s also taken for PMS, irregular bleeding, and to support general reproductive health. Some enjoy it as a caffeine-free tea alternative. Historically used for its astringency, it’s still valued for gut and oral health. Mineral-rich and versatile, it can be included in daily wellness or taken short-term as needed.
