Elderflower tea (Sambucus nigra) is one of the most traditional herbal teas for seasonal wellness. These certified organic dried elderflower blossoms produce a delicate, floral infusion that has been traditionally used for centuries to support the body's natural response to colds, mild fevers, and sinus congestion. Elderflower benefits also extend to its use in cordials, brewing, and skincare, making it one of the most versatile herbs in the cupboard.

Key Benefits

  • Seasonal wellness: Traditionally used to support the body's natural immune response during cold and flu season. One of the most valued elderflower tea benefits.
  • Sinus and respiratory comfort: Traditionally used to help ease mild sinus congestion and support clear breathing. A gentle, soothing option for seasonal discomfort.
  • Mild fever support: Traditionally used as a gentle diaphoretic, meaning it may help support the body's natural temperature regulation during mild fevers.
  • Certified organic: Whole dried elderflower blossoms grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
  • Versatile: Use as a tea, in elderflower cordial, in brewing, as a skincare ingredient, or as a beautiful garnish for cakes and desserts.

Elderflower tea: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried elderflower to a cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain and enjoy. The flavour is light, floral, and subtly sweet. Drink up to 3 cups daily during seasonal discomfort.

Blending: A classic pairing with Peppermint and Yarrow for a traditional cold and flu support blend. Also lovely combined with Elderberries for a double-strength elderberry and elderflower immune tea.

In folklore, the elder tree was known as the "medicine chest of the common people" because nearly every part of the plant was used. Elderflower cordial, made by steeping the fresh flowers in sugar syrup with lemon, remains a popular summer drink.

Elderflower is generally considered safe for dogs in small amounts, but the stems, leaves, and unripe berries of the elder tree contain cyanogenic glycosides and should be kept away from all pets.

Those with allergies to plants in the Adoxaceae family should use with caution. Not recommended for use during pregnancy without medical advice.
