Currently out of stock. Australian-grown echinacea supply is unavailable for the foreseeable future. For an in-stock alternative, our certified organic dried echinacea aerials are the same plant species (Echinacea purpurea), prepared the same way for tea.

Echinacea tea (Echinacea purpurea) is an Australian grown, certified organic herb traditionally used to support immune function and the body's natural defences. The dried aerials produce a pleasant, slightly grassy infusion with a mild tingle on the tongue, characteristic of quality echinacea herb.

Key Benefits

  • Immune support: Traditionally used to support healthy immune system function, particularly during the colder months. One of the most valued echinacea tea benefits.
  • Seasonal wellness: A staple of the herbal medicine cabinet, traditionally reached for at the first sign of seasonal challenges.
  • Australian grown: When in stock, grown in Australia for freshness and supporting local growers. Certified organic.
  • Pleasant flavour: Produces a mild, slightly grassy tea with a gentle tingle. Easy to drink on its own or blended with other herbs.
  • Rich in bioactive compounds: Echinacea purpurea aerials contain alkamides, chicoric acid and polysaccharides, the key compounds associated with its traditional use.

Echinacea tea: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried echinacea herb to a cup of boiling water. Steep for 10 to 15 minutes, covered. Strain and drink up to 3 cups daily during the colder months.

Stronger brew: For a more potent infusion, combine the aerials with Echinacea Root, which contains higher concentrations of alkamides.

Blending: Combine with Elderberries and Elderflower for a traditional immune support blend. Add honey and lemon to taste.

The tingling sensation on the tongue when drinking echinacea tea is caused by alkamides, one of the key bioactive compounds. This tingle is actually a good sign of quality and potency.

Echinacea is native to North America, where it was one of the most widely used medicinal plants among First Nations peoples. The name comes from the Greek "echinos" meaning hedgehog, referring to the spiky seed head of the flower.
