Coriander seed (Coriandrum sativum) is a warm, citrusy spice with a gently sweet, nutty flavour that is essential to cuisines worldwide. These certified organic coriander seeds are whole, ready to toast and grind fresh for maximum flavour. Coriander seed is one of the most versatile spices in the kitchen, used in curries, dukkah, spice rubs, pickling brines, and home brewing, and is also a traditional digestive herb with a long history in herbal medicine.

CCF digestive tea: Combine equal parts coriander seed with cumin seed and Fennel Seed for the classic Ayurvedic digestive tea. Gently simmer 1 teaspoon of the blend per cup for 10 minutes. Strain and drink after meals.

Pickling and brewing: Add whole coriander seeds to pickling brines, or use as a botanical in home gin distilling and wheat beer brewing.

Coriander seeds taste completely different from fresh coriander leaves (cilantro). The seeds are warm, citrusy, and universally liked, while the leaves have the famously divisive soapy flavour that some people love and others cannot stand. The difference comes from entirely different volatile compounds.

Coriander seeds have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs and were mentioned in the Bible. They are one of the oldest spices known, with archaeological evidence dating back over 8,000 years. Safe for dogs and cats in normal culinary amounts.
