Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) is one of the most well-established herbs in European herbal medicine for urinary and kidney support. This certified organic goldenrod herb has a pleasant, mildly sweet flavour and is recognised by both the European Medicines Agency and ESCOP for its traditional use in supporting healthy urinary tract function. Despite a common misconception, goldenrod does not cause hay fever. The real culprit is ragweed, which blooms at the same time. Goldenrod pollen is too heavy and sticky to become airborne and is carried by insects, not wind.
Thomas Edison experimented with goldenrod as a source of natural rubber during the 1920s. He successfully produced rubber from Solidago and even received a set of goldenrod rubber tyres from Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone.
