Chamomile tea (Matricaria chamomilla) is one of the world's most loved herbal teas, and for good reason. These certified organic whole chamomile flowers produce a golden, honey-sweet infusion with a gentle apple-like aroma. Traditionally used for centuries to promote relaxation and support restful sleep, chamomile is the classic evening tea. It is also traditionally valued for soothing digestive comfort and has a long history of safe, gentle use for all ages.

Key Benefits

  • Calming and relaxing: Traditionally used to help ease mild nervous tension and promote a sense of calm. One of the most widely used relaxation herbs worldwide.
  • Sleep support: Traditionally used as a bedtime tea to support restful, undisturbed chamomile sleep. Contains apigenin, a flavonoid that has been studied for its calming properties.
  • Digestive comfort: Traditionally used to ease occasional stomach discomfort, bloating, and mild digestive upset. Gentle enough for regular use.
  • Certified organic: Whole dried chamomile flowers grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
  • Versatile: Use as a tea, in baking, as a hair rinse, in bath soaks, or in home brewing. The flowers also make a beautiful natural garnish.

Chamomile tea: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried chamomile flowers to a cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain and enjoy. Covering the cup while steeping helps retain the beneficial volatile oils. Sweeten with honey if desired.

Blending: A classic pairing with Lavender for a deeply calming bedtime blend. Also lovely with Lemon Balm for a bright, uplifting daytime tea. For digestive comfort, try blending with Peppermint.

Other uses: Add a strong chamomile infusion to bath water for a relaxing soak. Use as a final hair rinse to naturally brighten blonde hair. The flowers can also be used in home brewing to add a subtle floral note to meads and light ales.

The name "chamomile" comes from the Greek "khamaimelon," meaning "earth apple," a reference to the apple-like scent of the fresh flowers. In many traditions, chamomile was known as the "plant's physician" because it was believed to improve the health of plants growing near it.

Chamomile is generally considered safe for dogs in small amounts and is sometimes used in calming pet products. However, it is not recommended for cats. As with all herbs, introduce gradually.

Those with allergies to plants in the daisy family (Asteraceae) should use with caution. May interact with blood-thinning medications. This information is not a substitute for medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider before use, especially if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.

Rated 5 out of 5. smells like heaven. I cannot praise the quality of this product enough (in fact all Mudbrick Cottages products)! As soon as I opened the packet I was hit with the most intoxicating smell of fresh, high quality chamomile. It's tastes just as divine! I use it in my tea blends and if I could transcend into another dimension, based on the pure bliss I feel, believe me it would be because of this chamomile! Mudbrick Cottage has become a staple for all my creations (teas, incense, balms, elixirs etc) because of their high quality. Do your self a favour purchase. You won't be disappointed!! xx Michelle , September 2025.

Rated 5 out of 5. Delicious Chamomile 😋. Loose leaf tea is so much better than tea bags. Bought this chamomile tea for my husband who drinks it nightly. He is really enjoying it and even more so knowing it’s organic and not sprayed with poisonous chemicals! Sam Tarazona , June 2025.

Rated 5 out of 5. Chamomile tea. A sweet delight, I love my chamomile flower tea. The flowers seem so fresh even though they are dried. A perfect end to a busy day I steep mine for a soothing tea. Also I add them to a homemade hair wash. Anonymous , August 2024.

Rated 5 out of 5. Quality herbs - always. I am always impressed by the quality of the herbs. This chamomile is perfect to drink on its own and I also blend with other herbs for infusions. Brianna Law , January 2026.

Rated 5 out of 5. Organic chamomile. The organic chamomile is really lovely and fresh, great taste. Nicest chamomile I’ve ever had. Prompt delivery with a lovely little note, thanks team! Will order again Jenny Statton , March 2024.

Rated 5 out of 5. Firstly, 200g of chamomile tea is A. LOT. I didn’t expect the bag to be that big. Not that I’m complaining. I bought this along with the sleeping tea which is helping me sleep better already. Highly recommend. Piriya CHAYANTARADILOK , November 2023.

Rated 5 out of 5. Excellent tea , aromatic and good price as well considering the quality. It is strong, you don't need more than a full teaspoon for a 500 ml water. I leave it in my thermos flask and it keeps the aroma all day long. Mirela Bordean , March 2026.

Rated 5 out of 5. Superb quality!. I am a soapmaker and make my own oil infusions. My new client wants kid safe and allergy safe soaps crafted using their raw ingredient (wax and honey) and wanted soothing qualities wherever we could squeeze them in. So I bought calendula and chamomile from Mudbrick and it worked superbly. The qualities of the herbs are evident as they produce a richer deepness in the infused oil. I did both hot and cold infusions. My client is testing the soaps now but I also used the same infused oil in my new formulated shampoo bars and they work beautifully. Will definitely be going to Mudbrick for my local herbal raw ingredient needs again. Teeyana JAKOVLJEVIC , March 2022.
