Good to know before you plant: Buddleja is a vigorous grower with a shallow, spreading root system. Give it an open, sunny spot with room to grow, and keep it a metre or two clear of walls, paths and drains. Snip off the spent flower heads through the warmer months. This keeps it blooming and stops it setting seed, as Buddleja can self-seed into bushland in cooler districts.
