Botanical Name: Centella asiatica

Part Used: Leaf

Certified Organic

Origin: Sri Lanka

Country of Origin may differ from what is shown above.

Gotu kola tea (Centella asiatica) is one of the most important herbs in Ayurvedic tradition, valued for centuries as a rejuvenating tonic for the mind and skin. This certified organic dried gotu kola leaf produces a mild, slightly grassy infusion traditionally used to support memory, mental clarity, and healthy circulation. Gotu kola benefits are well documented in both Ayurvedic and traditional herbalism, earning it a reputation as the "herb of longevity."

Key Benefits

Cognitive support: Traditionally used to support memory, concentration, and mental clarity. One of the most valued gotu kola tea benefits.
Skin health: Traditionally used to support healthy skin and connective tissue. Gotu kola has a long history of topical and internal use for skin wellness.
Calm focus: Traditionally used as a gentle calming herb that supports clear, focused thinking without drowsiness. Often described as a "calming adaptogen."
Certified organic: Dried gotu kola herb grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
Circulation support: Traditionally used to support healthy peripheral circulation and vein health.

How to Use

Gotu kola tea: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried gotu kola to a cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain and drink 1 to 3 cups daily. The flavour is mild and slightly grassy, pairing well with honey or lemon.

Blending: For a cognitive support blend, combine with Brahmi, another traditional Ayurvedic brain tonic. For a calming study tea, pair with Lemon Balm. Also combines well with Ginkgo for circulation and mental clarity.

Good to Know

In Ayurvedic tradition, gotu kola is classified as a "medhya rasayana," meaning a rejuvenating herb for the mind. It has been used by monks and scholars for centuries to support meditation and study. Elephants in the wild are said to favour gotu kola, contributing to its reputation as a longevity herb.

Gotu kola is generally considered safe for dogs in small amounts, but is not commonly used in veterinary practice. It is unrelated to kola nut and contains no caffeine.

May interact with sedative medications and liver-metabolised drugs. Not recommended during pregnancy. This information is not a substitute for medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider before use, especially if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.

Quality of products

I have to say the quality of herbs and products I purchase from Mudbrick are amazing. As I use herbs in all my creations for clients I source only the best and whenever I can I also seek to find local or Australian grown. I also really search out those supplies whose integrity is super high when it comes to growing the plants, and using sound practices for Earth care. I can't recommend their products their service or their integrity enough.
