Botanical Name: Crataegus monogyna

Part Used: Berries

Certified Organic

Origin: Bulgaria

Country of Origin may differ from what is shown above.

Hawthorn berry tea (Crataegus monogyna) is one of the most valued herbs in traditional Western herbalism for cardiovascular support. These certified organic dried hawthorn berries produce a mildly sweet, slightly tart infusion and have been traditionally used for centuries to support healthy heart function and circulation. Hawthorn berry benefits are well documented in herbal pharmacopoeias, making this a cornerstone herb for anyone interested in heart-healthy herbal teas.

Key Benefits

Cardiovascular support: Traditionally used to help maintain healthy heart function and support normal blood pressure already within the normal range. One of the most widely used hawthorn berry benefits.
Circulation: Traditionally used to support healthy peripheral circulation. Hawthorn tea has been a staple of traditional herbalism for this purpose.
Rich in antioxidants: Hawthorn berries contain oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), flavonoids, and vitamin C, contributing to their traditional value.
Certified organic: Whole dried hawthorn berries grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
Versatile use: Enjoy as a hawthorn tea, add to herbal blends, or use in homemade syrups, jams, and tinctures.

How to Use

Hawthorn berry tea: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried hawthorn berries to a cup of boiling water. Lightly crush the berries first for a stronger infusion. Cover and steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain and drink 1 to 3 cups daily.

Blending: For a heart-healthy herbal blend, combine with Hibiscus, which adds a vibrant colour and tart flavour. Also pairs well with Rose Hip for added vitamin C, or Lemon Balm for a calming touch.

Good to Know

The genus name Crataegus comes from the Greek "kratos," meaning strength, a reference to the extremely hard wood of the hawthorn tree. In folklore, hawthorn was considered a tree of protection and was often planted near homes.

Hawthorn berries are non-toxic to dogs and cats. In fact, they are a natural food source for many birds and wildlife throughout autumn and winter.

May interact with heart medications including beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, and digoxin. Not recommended during pregnancy. This information is not a substitute for medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider before use, especially if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.

Excellent product quality

I bought dry hawthorn berries and rose hip granules for a herbal tea to address hypertension. I'm very happy with the quality of the products and recommend this supplier :)

Happy with all my orders

Very happy with all my orders, I consume Hawthorn Berry and the tea everyday for healthier heart and blood pressure. The best part is the essential oil, I’m a essential oil freak and very particular with that and try all the brand like Doterra, Young living and Your essential oil as good as them with better price. I’m ordering again, supper happy to find your website, so I can order a super quality essential oil with a friendly price and your herb are super fresh .... ❤️❤️❤️

Hawthorn berries for heart health. Thanks!

I purchased Hawthorn Berry from Herb cottage after researching the incredible medicinal value for heart health - it came with instructions on how to prepare it, and I couldn't be happier. I bought it for my father with unstable blood pressure. They last for at least a few steeps in boiling water. Makes a nice tea if you add a bit of lemon juice and honey. I'm so glad I can buy these amazing berries locally. Thank you HerbCottage. x
