Heartsease (Viola tricolor), also known as wild pansy, is a dainty flowering herb with a long history in traditional European herbalism. This certified organic, Australian-grown heartsease is valued for its gentle, mild-tasting infusion and its pretty purple, yellow and white flowering tops.

Heartsease tea: Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried heartsease to a cup of boiling water, cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain. The cup is mild and lightly grassy.
For the skin: Traditionally, a cooled, strained infusion was also used as a gentle face or skin wash. Heartsease sits nicely alongside Calendula and Chamomile for this. It also blends well with our Self Heal.
Heartsease is Shakespeare's "love-in-idleness" in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the little flower whose juice sends Titania head over heels.
Wild pansy, Johnny-jump-up, three-faces-in-a-hood: the same cheerful plant has collected a wonderful spread of folk names over the centuries.
