Eco Oil

eco-oil is a registered organic miticide and insecticide. It controls a range of problem insects including scale, aphids, two-spotted mite, whitefly and citrus leafminer. Safe for use on veggies, as well as ornamentals, with no withholding period. Spray and eat on the same day! Also safe for beneficial insects like bees, ladybeetles and earthworms.

HIPPO Enhanced eco-oil is a revolutionary approach to pest control and is the results of a 3-year research project with Charles Sturt University.

The project investigated the natural defence mechanisms of plants, in particular, the way plants produce volatile organic compounds when being attacked by pests. These compounds act as SOS messages to beneficial insects letting them know that tasty snacks are on nearby plants! A whole range of beneficial insects are attracted including ladybeetles, lacewings, hoverflies and parasitoids.

Rated 5 out of 5. Very effective!!. My peach tree gets covered with microscopic black bugs (I think they are blackfly or mites). These bugs smother all the emerging leaves and destroy them so the tree looks like it is dying. The bugs also attack my cherry leaves and plum leaves.These mites are so persistent I have decided to take the scorched earth approach. I mixed this pest oil with pyrethrum and sprayed it on the affected trees. It knocked the pests down immediately. I then used pest oil by itself to attract beneficial insects. I noticed ladybirds on the tree within a couple of days. It's still early days. The little bugs are still attacking, but hopefully this plus the use of some spray with diluted detergent in it will keep them under control. My peach tree looks like it has leprosy, with so many bare branches, but the good news is, it has several leaves that haven't been destroyed by these pests. I check the tree every day to see how it's going. I also fed it with rock dust and cow manure to encourage it to persevere.For my next trick, I am planning to use pest oil against fruit fly etc on my other fruit trees. I also use nets to protect against birds and larger insects, but these tiny mites are so small they get through the nets. Kate , verified buyer, November 2018.
