Botanical Name: Tagetes lucida

Mexican Tarragon has been in use since Aztec times, both for religious and medical purposes. Today, it is a popular herb in the Southern states of the USA, since it can substitute the well-known tarragon very well, but can be grown more easily in a hot climate. It has a sweet aniseed flavour and makes a delicious tea. The leaves can be added to salads, fruit salads and used in place of French tarragon for fish and chicken dishes.

I bought this Tarragon for my herb-loving mum who conveniently doesn’t know how to purchase things off the internet but is fluent in sending links to her kids :)I live overseas and the purchase was easy and quick. Mum reported that the two plants arrived promptly and in tip-top condition! Every couple of days I receive a photo update about our little Mexican Tarragon friend. It’s now known as ‘plant watch’… it’s hilarious. Now it’s flowering! I don’t think she’ll have the heart to use the leaves in her green goddess salad dressing. Who knows?
