Learn more about this collection

We have been selling certified organic essential oils at Mudbrick Herb Cottage for over 20 years. Rather than stocking hundreds of oils, we keep the range focused on the ones our customers use most, and we make sure every oil meets our standards for purity and organic certification.

The collection includes all the essential oil staples. Lavender is our most popular and one of the most versatile oils for relaxation, sleep and skin care. Peppermint and eucalyptus are go-to choices for clearing the airways. Tea tree is an Australian classic for first aid and household cleaning. Lemongrass, citronella and lemon are bright, fresh oils for diffusing and natural insect repellent.

For those who want something special, we carry precious oils like rose otto, neroli, jasmine and German chamomile, all diluted to 3% in organic jojoba so they are affordable and ready to use on the skin. Frankincense and vetiver are also in the range for deeper, grounding blends.

Not sure where to start? Our Essential Oil Starter Kit includes 12 of the most useful oils in one box, or try the Certified Organic Set of 16 for a more complete collection. We also have ready-to-use calming and uplifting roller bottle sets.

All our essential oils pair beautifully with herbs from our nursery. Many of the plants we grow, like lavender, rosemary and peppermint, are the same species these oils are distilled from. Browse our natural skin care range for products that use essential oils as key ingredients.

Every essential oil in this collection is certified organic and 100% pure. We have kept the range intentionally focused, stocking around 30 single oils plus starter kits and roller bottle blends. Rather than trying to carry everything, we have selected the oils that our customers reach for most and made sure they are the best quality we can find.

We have been part of the Australian herbs and aromatherapy community for over 30 years, so we know what matters: genuine organic certification, clear labelling and oils that smell the way they should. If you are not sure where to start, our Essential Oil Starter Kit is a great entry point. Visit our blog for tips on using essential oils at home.

    Frequently asked questions

Are your essential oils certified organic?

Yes, all of our essential oils are certified organic. Every oil in the range carries certified organic certification. We believe organic matters for essential oils because it means no synthetic pesticides or herbicides end up concentrated in the final product.

What essential oils are good for sleep?

Lavender is the most widely used essential oil for sleep and relaxation. Other calming options include German chamomile, cedarwood, bergamot and vetiver. Add a few drops to a diffuser in the bedroom about 30 minutes before bed. You can also browse our herbs for sleep collection for herbal teas and dried herbs that support restful sleep.

What should I look for when buying essential oils?

Look for oils that are 100% pure and clearly labelled with the botanical name of the plant. Avoid oils with synthetic fragrances, fillers or carrier oils mixed in (unless clearly stated, as with our precious oil dilutions). Certified organic oils give you an extra level of assurance that the source material was grown without synthetic chemicals. Price is also a clue. If a rose or neroli oil seems too cheap, it probably is not pure.

What is the difference between an essential oil and a fragrance oil?

Essential oils are extracted from real plants through steam distillation or cold pressing. They contain the natural aromatic compounds of the plant. Fragrance oils are synthetic, made in a lab to mimic a scent. We only sell essential oils, never fragrance oils. Every oil in our range is 100% pure and derived from a real botanical source.

Why are some essential oils diluted in jojoba?

Some essential oils, like rose otto, neroli and jasmine, are extremely concentrated and expensive in their pure form. We offer these at 3% dilution in certified organic jojoba oil. This makes them affordable while still giving you the full aromatic benefit. The jojoba dilution is also ready to apply directly to the skin without further diluting.

Do you ship essential oils across Australia?

Yes, we ship essential oils right across Australia, including Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania. Essential oils are not restricted by quarantine. Regular Post is $10.95 and Express Post is $12.95. See our shipping information page for full details.
