    Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to plant herbs in Australia?

Most herbs do well when planted in spring or autumn, when temperatures are mild. In subtropical and tropical areas like the Gold Coast, you can plant many herbs year-round. Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary, thyme and sage prefer the cooler months in warmer climates. Check each plant's product page for specific planting advice.

Do you ship herb plants to all states?

We ship herb plants to most Australian states by Express Post, excluding Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania. Plants are sent on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid them sitting in transit over weekends. Each plant is carefully packed to minimise movement and stress during shipping. See our shipping information page for full details.

What size do your herb plants come in?

Our herb plants come in 50 x 75mm tubes. They are well-established seedlings ready to pot up or plant straight into the garden.

Which herb plants grow well in pots?

Many herbs grow well in pots, especially basil, parsley, chives, mint, thyme, oregano and rosemary. Mint is actually best kept in a pot because it spreads aggressively in garden beds. Use a good quality potting mix and make sure the pot has drainage holes. Our culinary herb plants collection is a good place to start.

Which herb plants grow in shade?

Several herbs handle partial shade well, including mint, parsley, chives, lemon balm, Vietnamese mint and many of the medicinal woodland herbs. Most culinary herbs prefer full sun, but if your garden gets at least 3 to 4 hours of direct light, you still have plenty of options. Browse our herbs for shade collection for the full list.

    Are your herb plants organic?

Yes, all our herb plants are certified organic. We grow everything at our nursery on the Gold Coast without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, and have done so for over 30 years.
