Filipendula ulmaria

likes a moist well drained position, with regular watering during hot summers.

A popular herb for aches, pain and fever, meadowsweet was the key ingredient that Bayer used for its original methyl salicylic acid formulation which in its synthesised form is known as Aspirin.

In the past, meadowsweet was used as an anti-inflammatory to reduce the symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism. The herb is gentle on the stomach, and is used to treat stomach upsets, feverish colds, diarrhoea and heartburn.

    Meadowsweet

This little plant arrived wonderfully wrapped, you could see a lot of care had gone into making sure they arrived safe and sound. I planted the meadowsweet and a few other plants from mudbrick a few weeks ago and they’ve thrived even with the cooler weather in my area recently.

A delicate, yet tough little cookie.

I've had my Meadowsweet for a couple of weeks now, it got a little damaged during shipping even though it was well packed and handled with care. I clipped off any dead or damaged bits when I repotted it and watered it in with a good dose of fertiliser. The next day one more delicate branch was snapped off by a curious magpie, and another branch fell prey to the wind shortly after. But I stuck with my now very small Meadowsweet. Tell you what, this little herb didn't give up, where herbs from Bunnings would have given up the ghost, this hardy little fellow has trudged forward and refused to die. I followed all the care instructions given to me and now this little dude is throwing out 6 new stalks. Clearly this herb was raised with love, and is one tough little nut.

    Meadowsweet plant

I recently purchased some meadowsweet plant from mudbrick and their service was fantastic, they first sent a video on how to look after the plants and then instructions when they arrived and my plants are doing well
